South Aussie stories: Public School Swimming Champ 1920

?‍♂️ Today we’re sharing the story of N.Webber, public schools swimming champ in 1920. We found this great photo in the State Library of South Australia digital collection, and after some sleuthing found a few articles on Trove about the same event.

? Webber (sometimes listed as Weber) was entered in the Junior Championship of South Australia for children 15 years and under. Webber easily won his singles race against two other swimmers, but it was alleged that he was older than he was allowed to be so his coach pulled him from the team event just in case.

⏳ Online repositories like Trove and the SLSA collection are full of brilliant photos and stories and are great for an easy browse if you’d like to step into the past for a few minutes.
